What it does

AI Review for Word helps legal teams assess contractual clauses within Microsoft Word. It compares clauses against a precedent corpus, identifies potentially risky language, and proposes comments and redline edits for the reviewer to consider. The redlines are inserted into the document clinically rather than replacing whole paragraphs.

How it works

Open a contract in Microsoft Word and run the plug-in’s review. Work through the suggested comments and edits within the document.

For the clauses it assesses, the tool provides an indicative risk assessment for the client’s side and proposes changes with a brief rationale. The reviewer accepts, modifies, or rejects each suggestion before finalising the mark-up. For clients with playbooks, choose the relevant playbook from the dropdown; else choose the free review tab.

Who it is for

The tool is intended for Boolean Legal’s internal legal team to support contract review and drafting aligned with the client’s position.

Review and limitations

Suggested comments, risk assessments, and redlines require legal review. Precedent language is not necessarily suitable for the current matter. Suggestions may overprotect or underprotect the client relative to its negotiated position.
